The four national draw games, how they work, and where to find results.
Australia runs four major lottery draw games, all operated nationally under The Lott brand (owned by Tabcorp). Each game has a distinct format, draw night and prize structure. Here's how they compare.
| Game | Format | Draw nights | Divisions | Div 1 odds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Saturday Lotto | Pick 6 from 1–45 | Saturday | 6 | 1 in 8,145,060 |
| Powerball | Pick 7 from 1–35 + Powerball 1–20 | Thursday | 9 | 1 in 134,490,400 |
| OzLotto | Pick 7 from 1–47 | Tuesday | 7 | 1 in 62,891,499 |
| Weekday Windfall | Pick 6 from 1–45 | Mon, Wed, Fri | 6 | 1 in 8,145,060 |
The oldest and most recognised Australian lottery, drawn every Saturday evening. Players choose 6 numbers from 1 to 45; the machine then draws 6 winning numbers plus 2 supplementary numbers from the remaining pool.
Division 1 requires matching all 6 winning numbers. Divisions 2 through 6 cover partial matches involving supplementary numbers. The minimum Division 1 prize guarantee varies by state but is typically $1 million or more, split equally between all Division 1 tickets.
Known as Tattslotto in Victoria, Gold Lotto in Queensland, X Lotto in South Australia and Lotto in Western Australia — the game rules are identical everywhere.

Powerball offers the largest jackpots in Australia, starting at $3 million and capable of rolling to $200 million or more. Players pick 7 numbers from 1–35 plus one Powerball from a separate barrel of 1–20.
There are 9 prize divisions. Division 1 — matching all 7 numbers and the Powerball — carries odds of approximately 1 in 134 million, making it the hardest to win. The game rolls over when there is no Division 1 winner, which is how it builds to record jackpots.
Draws take place every Thursday evening.

OzLotto is drawn every Tuesday and offers 7 prize divisions. Players select 7 numbers from 1 to 47; the draw produces 7 winning numbers plus 3 supplementaries from the same barrel.
Division 1 starts at $2 million and rolls over when unclaimed. The game uses a slightly larger number pool than Saturday Lotto (47 vs 45), and players must match 7 numbers to win Division 1 rather than 6, resulting in longer odds.

Weekday Windfall (previously Monday, Wednesday and Friday Lotto) runs three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. The format is identical to Saturday Lotto — 6 numbers from 1–45, plus 2 supplementaries.
The key difference from Saturday Lotto is that Weekday Windfall Division 1 has a fixed prize pool of $1 million, shared equally among all Division 1 winners in that draw. Prizes do not roll over — if there is no Division 1 winner, that prize money is redistributed down through the lower divisions.

All four games use physical lottery machines with numbered balls. Winning numbers are drawn at random, supervised by independent scrutineers. Results are simultaneously verified and uploaded to The Lott's systems, and G Network pulls official draw data automatically after each draw night.
Draw times vary slightly by game but generally fall between 8:30 pm and 10:30 pm AEST on the respective draw night.
