Powerball Statistics

Hot and Cold Numbers

Hot and cold describe what has already happened. Every ball has the same chance in the next draw, whatever its history. Our strategies guide explains why.

Ball Frequency: Main Numbers

Each main number below is shaded by how often it has been drawn. This describes past draws only, it does not make any number more or less likely next time.

• Hot, drawn most often (top third)
• Warm, around average (middle third)
• Cold, drawn least often (bottom third)
• Retired, above 35 and no longer in the pool

Main numbers are now drawn from 1 to 35. Higher numbers are kept from the earlier format for the record, and are left out of the hot and cold ranking because they cannot be drawn again.

Powerball Frequency

Each Powerball below is shaded by how often it has been drawn. This describes past draws only, it does not make any number more or less likely next time.

• Hot, drawn most often (top third)
• Warm, around average (middle third)
• Cold, drawn least often (bottom third)
• Retired, above 20 and no longer in the pool

The Powerball is now drawn from 1 to 20. Higher numbers are kept from the earlier format for the record, and are left out of the hot and cold ranking because they cannot be drawn again.

Skip Analysis: Days Since Last Drawn

How long it has been since each main number last appeared. Numbers away for more than 60 days are highlighted in the cold colour. Retired numbers are marked and never highlighted.
