Saturday 4 November is Victoria Derby day, a full card of quality runners in Flemington. Feature races include the Saab Quality 2500m, Victoria Derby 2500m, Mackinnon Stakes 2000m, all from which many Melbourne Cup runners will emerge.
The feature sprint race of the day, the Salinger Stakes 1200m represented the best value for our betting dollar, and so becomes the focus of Victoria Derby day G Network Racing Selections.

Gee I Jane first up, sprints well fresh, will be virtually undefeatable coming from an inside barrier, to get out in front and just keep going. Never forget, this girl is capable of a time 1:07.77 at 1200m!!! The favourite Miss Andretti will really need to get a move on, and run her best race ever to be a real threat. Show Barry looked like he’d donkey-licked them, led all the way by several lengths just to get done by favourite Zipping coming to the line, beaten by less than half length. Nice trifecta too, $484.30.
By the way, Zipping looks as good as Tawqeet coming into the Melbourne Cup, both these runners were coming right on at 2400-2500m with more to spare, we’ll see.
